Position Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated AWS Network Engineer with experience deploying secure environments in AWS. This position augments an existing team of security engineers working on enterprise level solutions. The ideal candidate will have worked within DoD providing engineering and hands-on support for existing cloud deployments.

Day-To-Day Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team regarding architectural and design considerations for new cloud environments
  • Design, document, and deploy cloud solutions
  • Implement security standards within the cloud infrastructure
  • Automate deployment and teardown of cloud environments for remote operators
  • Monitor systems and report issues
  • Mentor colleagues on technologies and processes related to the AWS platform
  • Monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity
  • Install and configure operating systems and other software validating systems and ensure their operational readiness
  • Assist in procurement evaluation and decision making
  • Integrate solutions with DoD Global Directory, Platform One, and other existing cloud deployments for authentication and collaboration
  • Participate in documenting and accreditation of the cloud environment according to applicable DoD standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical Discipline Preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience working in DoD environments
  • AWS Cloud and Go cloud (IL2 - IL6)
  • DoD Compliant Framework, Landing Zone, or similar deployments
  • AWS Cloudformation, Stacks, CI/CD Pipelines, VPC / Networking, State Machines, EC2, S3, Athena, Redshift, CloudTrail, Config, CloudWatch, AWS GuardDuty, IAM / SSO / RBAC
  • Understanding of OSI model and common networking practices (routing, subnetting, VLAN, BGP)
  • Comfort with common system administration responsibilities (securing systems, configuration management, change control processing, reviewing logs, installing and configuring applications)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unix / Linux background preferred
  • Relevant certifications from Cisco, Red Hat, CompTIA, ISC2
  • Background working on smaller teams with a proven ability to wear multiple hats
  • Desire to build new solutions and improve existing ones
  • Proven desire to solve problems and acquire new skills
